Need an easy repetitive craft that I don't have to look at

I am looking for a very easy craft that I can do in front of the TV and don't have to look at much for reasons (light, eyesight, etc). I have tried crochet but I have to look at it frequently.

Is there something like making rope for baskets or similar, where I'd just have to prepare the materials and then I could just twist or wind or knot or something without actually having to look at it too much?

Once you are used to it many crochet patterns particularly blankets for this criteria.

I can crochet and knit. Dont have to laugh out look at knitting unless its complex, always have to look at chrochet. Even simple patterns.

Spinning! You can start with a drop spindle rather than go straight to a spinning wheel.

I am another one that can knit without looking. There is a woman in my craft group who is a skilled lace knitter and has been blind since birth.

I'm not great at knitting but most knitters I know don't have to look at it. Especially with simple things like scarves.

Spinning with a spinning wheel! You then have lots of yarn to use so you need to also be knitting, doing crochet or weaving. It's a crafty slippery slope...

Ashford wheels are nice, well made with all spare parts available, and you can often find them second hand.

Agree with all of this, I have a second hand Ashford wheel 🙂

Simple knitting like a scarf?

Keep on trying crochet. My sister is blind and she makes fab crochet things.
(Fully blind . Optic nerve atrophy)

She made this the other day.

Whatever you do don't try needle felting. I got a kit for Christmas and I've stabbed myself so many times because I can't see what I'm doing.

This is all absolutely brilliant, thank you all so much! I will give knitting another go, I think. The key to a nice scarf with a simple 'stitch' (?) is probably the nice wool, so that's always fun to source.

Spinning! Never EVER would have thought of that. I'll look into it.

So glad I'm not the only one who has to look at crochet. I am inspired by @IncompleteSenten 's sister though! Will persevere (a bit).

That is absolutely gorgeous, 😍 I tried doing that kind of crochet once but failed miserably despite being a prolific knitter.......which I can do without looking unless a complex pattern or a shaping part of the pattern.
