Knitting border on a blanket - seed stitch?

Hi,
I'm planning on knitting a blanket. My plan is using circular needles 6mm, cast on maybe 100 stitches.
I'm going to use 100% Aran wool which recommends 4/4.5mm needles but I want it to be chunkier so I'm going to size up the needles.
I'm thinking of a colour gradient eg purple to dark blue to blue to light blue etc. I'll just knit and keep going til I'm ready to stop. I'm going to mix up the stitches for texture eg 6 stocking stitch, 8 garter, 6 moss , 6 garter

Anyway - my main question is ': in order to prevent the edges from rolling I was recommended to start the blanket in garter stitch and if I do say 5 rows of garter, then to begin and end each subsequent row in knit x5.

I personally don't love the look of garter as a border. Would seed stitch accomplish the same aim? What do you seasoned knitters do?

Yes, seed stitch would work. I think it’s not used because it’s a PITA to knit a long border in.

i cord is lovely

Seed stitch is a PITA!
I think I'll try the I cord idea. So basically I knit my blanket whatever way I want then when it's finished I add the I cord border the whole way around?

My suggestion would be an icord edge too.

Thanks for the video link. I had looked at a few but they all held the wool in their left hand (continental style?) and it made no sense to me!

I’d just do a seed stitch border, top, bottom and sides, as you go along. Much less of a faff.
