Letter stamping in clay

Bought some stamps from Amazon. Bloody awful don't and really basic looking. Is this the best I can hope for? Trying to make place names in clay decorations for my Christmas Day guests.

We have very basic ones, just one thing though - check that your clay isn't too thick or that you are pressing down too hard as when pressing down the letter stamps the imprint will distort as being too deep.

If all else fails, use a posca pen on the dry clay in a style you like.

Good luck!

Not heard of posca pens!
Off to Google. Thanks!

I use metal moveable type ( bought second hand on eBay) this gives you a really clear impression. The clay needs to be almost leather hard so the edges don’t blur. You need to make sure that the type stay clean and doesn’t get any tiny bits of clay caught in ti. Some people use talc on the type to help with this.

tip: write the letters on the back of the type for easy identification.

Thanks! These sound fab.
I don't suppose you have a link for these (I know you got yours second hand)? X
