Hello folks, I have recently created space in my life for more fun and fulfilment. Yay! One of the things I absolutely love doing is problem-solving and improvising - finding creative solutions to things, such as small DIY jobs. Things whereby I can use my hands if possible, as well as my brain. (I think I’d be a very enthusiastic contestant on Taskmaster!) Anyway, I’m trying to think of hobbies or activities where I can indulge my love of creative problem-solving. All ideas welcome! 🤗

First activity that came to mind was escape rooms! If you can find a team to join you! Lots of opportunities for quick thinking and problem solving 😊

Lego, buy a load of cheap mixed Lego and try to make smart things and show them off in Facebook Lego nerd groups (imagine there must be some)

Dressmaking: design, draft patterns, fit and sew clothes to fit you or someone, that's quite difficult if you go for challenging stuff, can be expensive.

Another vote for sewing / textiles- dressmaking is my fav, but quilting, embroidery, knitting, rug-making or weaving all have a hands on problem solving aspect and can be quite creative. All have great opportunities for social using as well, and are generally quite friendly/supportive of people new to the craft.

upcycling for home or garden

cooking - specifically learning to cook without relying on recipes- offers a lot of creative problem solving

Thank you all! I’ve never done an escape room, it sounds fun though, will look into it.

I think I would like to do macrame. I know the basics, and have made a few plant hangers but I’d love to be able to make really beautiful wall art with macrame.
Rug making sounds fun too!

I have done some furniture upcycling which I really enjoyed! I don’t really have the space for it now as I’ve moved to a much smaller house. But maybe there are smaller items I can upcycle.

I’ll check out free form crochet too as that sounds interesting 😊
