Knitting question - slipping stitches to make a neat edge

Should you slip them in the direction you are knitting or always in the same direction? Am knitting in 2x2 rib (row 1: p2,k2,p2 row 2: k2,p2,k2) Should I slip the start of row 1 purlwise and the start of row 2 knitwise or both rows knitwise? (or purlwise - does that make a difference?)
Any help appreciated, TIA

Thanks anyway bundle.
Anyone else? I'm at the end of a row right now and don't know what to do!

i'd probably do it stitchwise

nomoremagnolia · 06/03/2008 18:21

You mean whichever way the stitch is going? P-wise on row 1, k-wise on row 2?

yes that's what I'd do instinctively

annobal · 06/03/2008 18:34

I think I'd do it at the beginning of the row.

nomoremagnolia · 06/03/2008 18:39

I am doing it at the start of the row, I didn't realise you could do it at the end?

Have been slipping the first stitch of each row in the direction I'm going (P-wise on row 1, k-wise on row 2) and it's working fine - thanks bundle
