Want to trace a dress making pattern, best way to do this?

Bought a pattern to make myself a skirt but as I am losing weight may well want to make a smaller size in the future so don't want to cut it up.

Have tried tracing it onto greaseproof paper but 1) nothing will stick it to the table and 2) I don't think i'm that accurate as only thing I could find that would write on it was a black thick permanent marker!

Any advice please

Thank you

my pennyworth is that i stick the pattern to the table with masking tape, then stick the greaseproof down too. separately, but on top IYSWIM. And hehe - go hunting for a pencil, life is much easier that way. I do sometimes trace in huge black marker pen - but I've had more practice than I care to own up to

BTW, cheap and nasty greaseproof is called for. then it isn't too shiny and well, everything-proof

thank you gigglewitch, I still have one piece left to copy so will try your technique tomorrow with a pencil and if much better I will redo the bits I've done.

I'm getting fed up with it all ready lol

You can buy pattern paper at a decent haberdashery store. You can also use of of those dressmaking wheels to trace the pattern onto the paper. Put the paper on top of the pattern and draw it with the wheel.

Couldn't get pattern paper locally so my Mum picked up some sheets of A1 tracing paper - much better than fighting with the greaseproof!

Now I just need to understand what to do next lol!!!!
