Crochet 'finishing off' advice

My lovely sister died earlier this year. She left behind 40 beautiful crocheted squares, which feels like an absolute gift. I want to sew them together to make a blanket. I'm a pretty good sewer/darner so that bit is okay but I'm not sure what to do with the dangly threads (see pic). Do I cut them back to the knot or weave them back in? What would be neatest and less likely to make it all unravel? Any advice much appreciated :)

use a tapestry needle and weave in the tails. I follow the shape of the crochet as I weave it in so you can’t even see it.

You need a decent length to weave say about 4 inches as crochet can unravel over time with wear and washing if it’s cut too near the knot.

Sorry for your loss. I think the blanket when you’ve finished it will be a lovely keepsake

That makes sense, thank you.
