KNitters - I'm looking for a woman's tank top pattern

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am looking for a knitting pattern for a scoop necked tank top (very low, would wear another top underneath), maybe aranny/fair isley type, funky looking.

Would be for me to wear but my mum will knit. I don't know where to start looking for hip patterns. ANy online sites?

knitty this is the archive.
lionbrand do some good ones.
And berroco

rantinghousewife · 01/03/2008 15:06

Actually, these berroco ones are more suited to your description. Knitty is by far the hippest, supposedly.

pointydog · 01/03/2008 15:25

thnaks ranting. Actually that knitty cherry twist one is just lovely. It's got crochet in it, and I know my mum doesn't do crochet. I'll carry on looking.

I just found one I didn't think was too bad on a site called laughing hens, a rowan pattern (I'm also worried about american instructions for my mum) this although not scoop neck

Your mum could probably easily make it a scoop neck, just cast off more stitches at the v point than the pattern states. I have a similiar pattern somewhere but it is a 70s one, think that has a scoop neck.

pointydog · 01/03/2008 15:33

the models on that knitty site are so refreshing, such a mix of sizes

pointydog · 01/03/2008 15:34

I'll maybe speak to my mum about it. The pattern is in a book. Do you know if it's usually possible to buy a single pattern of ones that appear in a book?

I've got this Rowan magazine but i suspect the neck isn't scooopy enough for you

rantinghousewife · 01/03/2008 15:37

They use contributors to model, I think, as do interweave knits. here, almost forgot those.

bundle · 01/03/2008 15:37

great minds thinks alike...

CAT me and I'll post you a copy if you like pointy, x

pointydog · 01/03/2008 15:40

ah bundlke - that's the pattern I've just been looking at! I would prefer itmore scoopy, yes, but then you never get exactly what you want, do you. I do like that one.

OP posts:
rantinghousewife · 01/03/2008 15:41

I can't find single rowan patterns. am not sure I've ever seen single ones.

pointydog · 01/03/2008 15:44

thanks bundle. Ive never done catting before. Ill come back to this this evening and look it up. Thanks very much

OP posts:
bundle · 01/03/2008 16:10

will dig it out and try to photocopy on monday and have a trawl through my other books for you

rantinghousewife · 01/03/2008 16:12

If you want directions for changing the neckline, I'll be happy to help you. You'll have to email me a copy of the pattern but, I can rewrite the neck instructions for you, no problem.

pointydog · 01/03/2008 21:03

ok, I have to pay £5 subscription to get CAT. I am tight but I will do it by end pof weekend

Couple spring to mind, that I've seen knitted up: (hope I can get the links to work!)

Twilleys Freedom Spirit dkhere in red with beret (scroll down)

"Cambride" by Martin Storey from Rowan RY Classic Alpaca (on here) also a vest called "Shetland".

Debbie Bliss is often good for some fancy cabling see here for "Catriona" from Rialto book, Rialto is a DK yarn too.

any good?

pointydog · 02/03/2008 16:35

oo granny. Nice. I couldn't find the shetland vest (only hat, scarf and men's), do you know if there is a woman's version? I quite like fair isle stuff.

OP posts:
pointydog · 02/03/2008 16:36

and I like teh neck on twilley's lacy stripe jumper. Would be easy enough to knit a jumper sleeveless, wouldn;t it?

OP posts:
Tamum · 02/03/2008 16:47

It would be dead easy to miss the sleeves off something, yes- your mum would just need to pick up stitches around the arm and do a border like whatever is round the neck. Should be simple

bundle · 02/03/2008 17:14

pointy I'll cat you

let me find my card....

pointydog · 02/03/2008 17:16

oh hang on, I might have to subscribe and pay, no? I haven't done that yet.

I never imagined I would start this CAT business, especially not because of woollens

OP posts:
bundle · 02/03/2008 17:22

don't worry pointy i need to do mine anyway, had ot get a new debit card because of fraud, so had delayed a bit

pointydog · 02/03/2008 17:23

so I don't pay because you;re catting me? Is that how it works?

OP posts:
Tamum · 02/03/2008 17:34

You only have to pay to send CATs, pointy. Bundle, if you haven't renewed I could CAT pointy for you and then forward it if you like?

bundle · 02/03/2008 17:37
