See my sadly barren thread here

I'll pay you handsomely, and even supply the ready-blown eggs!

Pleeeeeeease....

What exactly are you looking for - you send someone empty eggs and they decorate them? My daughter and I have started a craft club at home and could have a go but I need specifics. What do you want them for? Egg hunt? When for - March? THis idea is growing on me. Can you tell I have self edit??? Get back to me and I could be the gal for you!!

Ace!
I'm after decorated eggs that I can hang on ribbons from an Easter tree, and then wrap lovingly in tissue paper and store for next year.
I'd be after "fine arty" designs like this or this in similar fresh but muted colours, not cartoon-like bunnies etc.

Do you really think you could help, dolallylass? I'd want about 6 eggs, and would be prepared to blow them myself and then post them if we're too far apart. I'm in south London.

Ooh, I'm quite excited now!

Am still open to offers, though, if anyone's feeling inspired...

I am so sorry. I did get a chance to have a look at the ones you had links to and they were well above anything I could offer you. I have been asking about and am going to our local market town today and they often have thing like that so I will have a look.
I haven't done any art or craft for years but my dd (6) is really into it at the moment so we are finally opening all the boxed sets from birthdays/christamas but we are not very sophiticated. Your post reminded me of the eggs we made as children, but I was thinking of the ones we wrapped in onion skins and dyed.

I should have got back sooner but have been flat out - poor excuse I know (we are all in the same boat).

I have googled fine art eggs, and wondered if you could call that shop - I bet they would post them. Sorry for getting you hopes up and I will search where I can.

ps Thank you for reminding me of a childhood activity I had forgotten all about. I can remember decorating the eggs but not how to blow them - what do you do?

Aw, thanks dolallylass!

I bet your 6yo's efforts would be better than mine.

To blow out the contents (and it's easiest to work with an egg that's been at room temp for an hour or so), you

a) make a tiny hole in the big end with a pin
b) make a hole in the pointy end with a pin, and then gradually chip away at it so it's big enough to thread your hanging wire/ribbon into oce decorated
c) use the pin to wiggle about in the egg and burst the yolk
d) purse your moth over the smaller hole and blow gently but steadily. It will take about 10 mins and lots of goes to get all the egg out.
e) submerge the empty egg in a 50/50 vineger/water mix and let it half-fill. Shake and then blow again to empty. Leave to dry.
f) have a rest and enjoy a nice omelette!

That's the theory, anyway. The reality is more usually prick finger, curse, shout at egg, break egg.

Have fun!

How do you use onions to dye an egg, btw? Sounds interesting...
