@WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally I have some stash with me to go in the car but the rest is in a box that is already packed onto the removal van. I’m hoping I can find it quite quickly when they’ve unloaded if I refer to DH’s master spreadsheet! Best of luck with the viewings.

Love the Carrot @lucysmam

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 24/02/2023 12:48

Hope all is going well, @StillNiceCardigan !

Waiting in the car@QuantumWeatherButterfly ! Completions have been happening further down the chain so just waiting our turn.

lucysmam · 24/02/2023 15:04

Do we think this (all dark green, obviously) would be ok for broccoli, with a couple of lighter green stalk-ish sideburn type things going on?

bruffin · 24/02/2023 15:33

That would look really good @lucysmam

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 24/02/2023 15:40

Hope it all goes through soon @StillNiceCardigan! A spreadsheet is a brilliant idea.

Lovely squares @bruffin I really like the diamonds one.

Those are great @lucysmam! DS2 wanted me to make him a fantastic mr fox hat but thankfully changed to a scientist. DS2 wants to be Mayor Humdinger from Paw Patrol purely so he can wear a top hat 😂 I think that would be perfect for broccoli.

Best of luck with the viewings @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally!

lucysmam · 24/02/2023 15:45

Thanks, I think I just needed someone to say yes before I started anything 🙈

@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound I have a fox hat upstairs - we bought it for 50p in Primark years ago for a WBD when the girls were little!

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 24/02/2023 15:53

Our viewer cancelled. Except they didn’t really cancel. The agent rang them to say there had been an accident and they might be late and they said “oh yeh, can’t make it” but we have two tomorrow so fingers crossed they actually turn up.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 24/02/2023 21:02

That sounds like the perfect kind of prop @lucysmam! I know I could go buy some orange yarn and spend ages making him something and he’d take it off as soon as he got in because he’d be too hot in it… Luckily we’ve already got a lab coat and some plastic test tubes so that’s one sorted!

How rude @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally! I suppose it’s best to wash out time wasters as soon as possible but really, basic manners wouldn’t hurt. It can’t do them any favours with the estate agent either you’d think.

LancreWowhawk · 24/02/2023 21:49

DD's school have said that this WBD the theme is bedtime stories, and the kids should all go in in their pyjamas. Can't say I'm disappointed! I am, however, looking forward to seeing the broccoli!

I put my big girl pants on tonight and started the second panel on the Aviva top. I find the thought of starting something and knowing there is a long way to go quite daunting, but glad it is underway now.

lucysmam · 24/02/2023 21:51

The Evil Pea's crown is done ready for Friday - I didn't start it last night after all 🙄 I'm considering stiffening with pva/water so the points sit up, but we'll see about that ('scuse the post shower fuzzy hair 🙈)

Fairislefandango · 24/02/2023 23:11

Our WBD theme is 'historical fiction', but I think people are interpreting that fairly loosely- i.e. any character from a boom set more than about 50 years ago! I'm going as Mary Poppins! I've never worked at a secondary school that really went for it with WBD before!

12roundsofwhitelowfatspread · 25/02/2023 00:20

Our WBD theme is animals so I’m halfway through making a Hedwig costume!
Mary Poppins sounds like a great character idea, would love to see that.

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 25/02/2023 06:33

DD’s nursery is doing WBD. She’s 15 months! Her current favourite book is Itsy Bitsy Spider but she won’t entertain any kind of costume or know what it is. She does have a Peter rabbit top though so I’ll send her in that.

lucysmam · 25/02/2023 08:44

My girls' secondary do WBD @Fairislefandango, it quite surprised me! The dc are given the option to dress up & most of the staff do.

I'm just about to write the pattern out, for the hat, so I don't need to refer to my phone constantly.

MerylSqueak · 25/02/2023 08:58

I have to say, although DCs always cajoled me into making a big effort for WBD, I'm very glad to be able to stop now they're at secondary. I'm hoping our school remains not doing anything!

Easy wins for us in the past we're Mr. Strong (paint a cardboard box, hat, balloons on a cardboard tube for the weight) and the golden ticket from Charlie and the chocolate factory (two pieces of painted cardboard tied at the shoulder and waist).

Sauron and Gangster Granny not souch. Huge faff, although I have to say Sauron was a triumph of upholstery foam and glue gun.

MerylSqueak · 25/02/2023 08:58

So much

GlowWine · 25/02/2023 09:12

Hello I'm still here, admiring all your beautiful work. Sorry can't tag everyone but rest assured if you recently shared a photo, it was amazing. The spinning, the socks, the squares and everything I forgot to mention. I'm still working on my second sock, not made much progress recently.
But I wanted to share this report from an world record crochet event : www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-64750279

Have a nice weekend everyone!

PumpkinSpicedTea · 25/02/2023 09:33

Haven't had much time this week to practice the double stitch but hoping to get some peace this afternoon.

All your lovely pictures are motivating me to keep going 😀

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 25/02/2023 10:37

Oh wow @GlowWine what an amazing lion hat that woman has!

Oh please please tell us you have a photo of Sauron @MerylSqueak! That sounds like the costume to win all costume competitions!

Your school sounds amazing @Fairislefandango I would have loved that.

At 15 months that is quite the challenge @WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally Imagine the nursery staff having to reunite all the discarded costume bits with the right children Shock

My DM always made amazing fancy dress costumes for our primary school fancy dress parties and I remember one year she outdid herself but I didn’t win because they thought she’d hired it, the ultimate accolade for my mum but a crushing blow for me Grin

lucysmam · 25/02/2023 10:47

@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound I work in our schools nursery & tend to label discarded bits and bobs (on washing labels) as they come off. I'm always the one with pen, whiteboard marker, highlighter, post it notes, and polos about my person 🤣🙈

Fairislefandango · 25/02/2023 11:24

Your school sounds amazing @Fairislefandango I would have loved that.

My school is pretty amazing actually. I'm very lucky Smile. They'll have to carry me out feet first Grin - I will never work in another school after this! Fortunately I've just found out my initially one year contract will definitely be made permanent for next year and there's a probable small promotion in the offing too...

MerylSqueak · 25/02/2023 15:19

Annoyingly, I only have a halfway through one @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound and even more annoyingly it didn't win. It had leg bits and a cloak and things. Someone in a shop bought onesie won much to DS's chagrin. Maybe the kid had had a rough year.

DS now tells me it was the Witch King if Angmar. Who knows!
