@WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally hopefully your house move will be more straightforward than ours. We are ready to exchange but our solicitor isn’t in this week and doesn’t appear to have handed over her work to anyone else. I feel some cross phone calls coming on for tomorrow.

I’ve finished my crocheted tulips for my friends birthday but I’ve no idea how to send them through the post!

Eek, best of luck @StillNiceCardigan, the actual moving will feel like a holiday after all the stress leading up to it Gin lovely tulips! Could you send them in a flattish box like those flowers though the letterbox things?

That looks lovely @12roundsofwhitelowfatspread, I like them all together!

Enjoy your half term @Fairislefandango the jumper you picked looks really good and I’ve heard good things about that wool.

I’ve finished my Nightshift shawl, it’s currently soaking in the bath so I can block it in the morning. It was a lovely mindless TV watching knit. However, it’s huge and I’m looking at it thinking I could have got the body of a jumper out of it. I’ll use it for a while and then maybe frog it and make something else now I’ve a feel for how the colours work together.

Fairislefandango · 14/02/2023 07:42

Beautiful tulips, @StillNiceCardigan !

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/02/2023 18:50

All dry Smile It’s quite a woolly wool but I can definitely wear it on the bare skin around my arms and neck so I’m really pleased. I’ll spin up different braids for a jumper Grin

Lovely shawl @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound I love the colours.

We almost exchanged today hopefully will be first thing tomorrow now. Fingers crossed!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/02/2023 19:55

Ooh, fingers crossed for you @StillNiceCardigan!!

Thanks 😊

Fairislefandango · 14/02/2023 20:57

I love that shawl,@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound !
I've just started spinning my fancy fibre from Hilltop Cloud. It's very exciting seeing how the colours come out. It's a bit slubby (because of the sari silk bits,I think), but it's quite a feature - I like it! No idea what I'm going to make with it.

Oooh that’s fab @Fairislefandango

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/02/2023 21:35

Oh wow! That is gorgeous @Fairislefandango 😍

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 15/02/2023 08:30

@Fairislefandango that is a gorgeous colour. It makes me want to start spinning I’m meant to be decluttering for our hopeful
move not adding more stuff to my collection.

@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound that is lovely. I like the colours.

@StillNiceCardigan fingers crossed you can exchange today!

Fairislefandango · 15/02/2023 09:23

Hope all goes well today, @StillNiceCardigan !
I'm making very little progress through my half-term to-do list, partly because I'm spending time spinning and watching spinning videos!

@SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound I've just watched a lovely video by JillianEve about why she spins. It's a very wholesome watch! I then went back and re-watched her 'How to spin consistent singles' one, because I was finding my new fibre a bit tricky to draft. Definitely better after watching it! Part of the problem is that I did tons of spinning during the Tour de Fleece when I first got my wheel, but that was before I had a full time job again and I'm not doing it regularly enough now!

LancreWowhawk · 15/02/2023 11:24

Beautiful yarn, @Fairislefandango, and equally gorgeous shawl, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound - you are all so clever!

Good luck to the house movers - DH and I keep discussion whether we should move, but never seem to reach a conclusion, so we're staying put for a while yet.

I think I'm 1/3 of the way through the first panel of my top. Roughly the bottom 2/3 of each panel is moss stitch and the top 1/3 is offset mesh stitch. Looking at my row markers, I suspect I may have miscounted at some point. It's coming along much quicker now I've got to grips with the stitch, and is pleasingly mindless. Also - while I'm still not loving the Drops Muskat to work with, I must admit that now I have a decent sized piece worked up, it feels absolutely gorgeous - all silky and drapey. Perhaps I'll be converted yet!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 15/02/2023 14:20

Oh I watched that and enjoyed it @Fairislefandango! I think I’d like to get a copy of the book at the end.

We’re heading away tomorrow for a holiday with all the family but we’ve everything packed so I can play today Grin I got a swatch knitted and some fleece carded when I turfed the children outside to play. Glad I did do it outside, it was clean but a surprising amount of VM and kemp came out.

Oh that does sound lovely @LancreWowhawk, the end result will be worth it!

StillNiceCardigan · 16/02/2023 18:56

I’m still in some sort of almost exchanging contracts nightmare I won’t go into the details or I’ll start doing angry typing. Anyway will try again in the morning. I’ll be doing some furious knitting tonight.

MerylSqueak · 16/02/2023 22:12

Fingers crossed tomorrow is your day @StillNiceCardigan

Fairislefandango · 17/02/2023 08:09

Good luck, @StillNiceCardigan !
My yarn for dd's jumper arrived. I was a bit worried the colour wouldn't be right (always hard to tell with online pics) but it's perfect! I've done a swatch and had to go down a needle size, which made the stitch count just right but the row count might be a fraction off <frets>.

LancreWowhawk · 17/02/2023 09:27

Good luck, @StillNiceCardigan, and I'm so pleased about the yarn, @Fairislefandango.

It's funny, I was only thinking about The Fear on gauge and row counts this week. I'm only on my third garment, but it seems ever present. I'm good on stitch count for the Aviva, but pretty sure I am short on rows - though I can't be sure as the pattern doesn't give any measurements other than finished bust. I'm going to do as many rows as I think I need for the moss stitch section, but I'll be flying blind on the offset mesh. And the thing that worries me the most is that if my rows are short, the sleeve trim won't work right.

Oh well - every day's a learning day, right?

Have finally exchanged and are moving next Friday! Lots to do and hopefully can stop waking up at 3am now.

WeCanLiveLikeJackAndSally · 17/02/2023 12:34

@StillNiceCardigan Amazing news! Hopefully the new house will be worth the dress and delay! Moving supplies in the car with you - moving supplies include the kettle, cups, tea/coffee, good biscuits, phone chargers and obviously your knitting then you can knit while stuck in a car park somewhere waiting for the keys.

LancreWowhawk · 17/02/2023 13:25

@StillNiceCardigan Hurray! I remember that feeling! Also the waiting-in-the-car-for-the-keys bit, wish I'd known how to crochet then!

Wishing you the very best of luck for plain sailing with the actual move.

It was so obvious too! The Book looks a bit rubbish tbh.

My crochet has stalled completely. My gauge was off on my test. So I've had to start again. And now I'm bored of it. Blush

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 17/02/2023 14:09

@StillNiceCardigan yay! So pleased for you!

StillNiceCardigan · 17/02/2023 16:42

Thanks everyone. I’ve hidden some yarn from DH to stop him packing it. I do need it for the rest of the week to help me relax although I’m just making crochet granny squares as have no headspace for anything else.
