Hello,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone recommend an online course where I can learn basic illustration, just as a hobby?

I'm particularly interested keen on the 'cosy' style of illustration, the type seen in certain children's books, sort of scandi-style, woodland scenes, a bit twee I suppose.

I have absolutely no art skills whatsoever, did GCSE Art thirty odd years ago and got grade D! My two children, however, are both quite competent artists, so maybe there's hope for me yet!

I'm starting a new job next week and would like a hobby that I can do in my own time, in the evenings to relax. I've always considered myself to be uncreative and really lack confidence with anything arty or crafty. I'm hoping that I can learn some skills and that it's not all down to being naturally gifted... The thing for me is having the patience to stay with something whilst I learn and improve, so I'll have to work on that.

Looking forward to hearing you ideas! TIA

Hi @newnamenellie did you find anything for this? Sounds a nice idea, I'd like to do something similar to fill the long evenings.

Have a look on Domestika, they have loads of art courses you can do online from home. I've just started a sketching course on there, really enjoying it so far.

Kriksis on YouTube has lots of process videos and info about materials, and I think you'll love her style.
