Reading a crochet pattern

I can knit and can read patterns.

I taught myself to crochet in the last year using videos so I have stuck to making blankets. I've make star blankets, waffle stitch, C2C with various borders.

I've found a blanket kit online that I'd love to make, but it comes with a pattern rather than a video tutorial.

Do you think with the combined wisdom of Google and Mumsnet I could figure it out? The blanket itself only uses doubles and trebles.

YouTube is very helpful for tutorial videos on knitting and crochet.

Patterns are pretty easy to follow when you’ve figured out if they are using British or American terms and what the abbreviations mean. If you post the pattern up then I’m sure we can help.

I find crochet patterns easier than knitting but that might be because I learned to crochet well before knitting. The blanket looks lovely, and fairly simple so I think you should give it a go, I think you'll likely surprise yourself. Like PP said, check if US or UK pattern and come back here if you have questions, always happy to help if I can x

Yes definitely. I did my first ever crochet last year and it was one of the sweet pea blankets. If you Google Sweetpea Crochet you'll find lots if very good video tutorials by Sue Rawlinson which should show you what you need to know if you get stuck.

Thanks so much everyone, think I'll have to purchase this today!
