Can anyone recommend a pattern and fabric for a dressing gown please?

I am interested in making a midi/calf length dressing gown similar to one of these below in a size 20-22 (a nice print but not see through and non or minimal ironing)?

Please can anyone recommend a pattern and fabric supplier? Some of the photos are from One Hundred Stars, some are random and one is Sharon Horgan’s dressing gown in the Tv show Catastrophe.

Many thanks

And similar to these in print but would like a lightweight cool fabric but not linen.

One hundred stars looks like they have a shawl front, so I think any shawl front pattern like this:

www.simplicity.com/simplicity-storefront-catalog/patterns/women/cozywear/burda-style-pattern-b6740-bath-robes/

Would work. They are multi size and go up to a size 22/24 - might be cheaper to just go into an actual sewing shop and go through their drawers of patterns though.

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work in a lighter weight of fabric than they have used but I imagine one might need to interface the shawl collar and definitely the belt. If you wanted bigger arms I think the pattern would be fairly easy to adapt to that.

Again on the fabric I think a physical shop will be best - you need to feel the weight of the fabric, how it moves, it's flexibility etc. Only you know what you want in terms of weight.

This is a free pattern I have earmarked to make when I find the right fabric. I assume you could easily lengthen the pattern if you want it longer.

Thanks I will check those out. It doesn’t have to be a shawl collar it was more the prints I was attracted to.

I am tall so I usually have to add at least a couple of inches onto any tops or dresses I make.

Someone on a sewing Facebook post recommended a Sunday Dressing gown from I think Merchant Mills or similar. But the suggested fabrics seem to be all plain linens .

I see no reason at all why the merchant and mills wouldn't work in a cotton print, but I think you'll be best going to a fabric shop to find one because it's so hard to tell weights on the internet. Maybe someone better at internet fabric shopping than I am will be along to tell you where to buy some from - I hope so!

I made the Helen's Closet dressing robe in a poplin and a lawn. The latter was a Lady McElroy print (Sherwood fabrics gave a fabulous range) and it feels amazing. Soft and light. Sadly is was 1. A gift and 2. 4 x the price of my poplin one.

Other than cotton lawn a rayon challis would be lovely.
