Craft CV/portfolio?

Hello all!

I have been doing some semi-professional and professional craft jobs for a little while now (knitting and embroidery for people, test-pattern knitting, embroidery repairs etc). When I have looked into some vacancies for freelance work with some larger companies they have asked for a CV or portfolio. I can do this, but to be honest I've no idea what it would look like or what they're expecting! My usual work CV is a fairly uninspiring Word document and I can't even work out what I'm aiming for. Is there anyone creative out there who has a visual job who has to showcase their work who'd be willing to give me an idea of what they do? Thank you!

A portfolio will include details and clear photos of your previous work. They want a CV to see your previous and relevant work experience. If you haven't worked in a relevant job to show experience then there is no point sending a CV, but you may swing it with a decent and varied portfolio.

Just list your current role as Freelance / Self employed Crafter (or whatever you make). Under that put a list of the types of jobs you've undertaken in this role. And any business skills developed alongside (social media, book keeping, materials purchasing etc). If you had older roles alongside it e.g. working in a shop add those as well, in a historical list. Have a short personal statement at the beginning about you, your work personality type, work attitude (can-do, professional crafter, highly focussed on achieving an excellent quality result etc etc) and skills. At the end have a short 1-2 sentences about you the rest of the time (skills, hobbies etc). Add in any qualifications and exams etc.

And yes be sure to include a separate portfolio!
