Knitting pattern help please

Im knitting a baby's raglan cardigan. The instructions state that all increases are on the RS of a stockinette pattern like so 'knit to marker, yo, sm, K2,sm, yo repeat from * 3 more times, knit to end of row. On the next row, the yarn overs are knitted twisted to prevent holes. However, the WS row is a purl row - it says k6, purl to last 6 sts and then k6. Do I still knit the yos through the back loop or do I purl them as its a purl row. If so, how do I purl a yo through the back loop?!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds confusing, I thought the point of doing yo was to make the eyelet holes.

Do you have the name of the pattern, or can you show us a picture of the finished cardigan, eg from the front of the pattern?

Googling “how to purl through the back loop of a yo” only brought up other things apart from one video from someone who was Continental knitting. That was confusing, I thought.

Thanks All, I've attached some photos of the instructions and the raglan photo. Sorry, the photo is not great.

Here is the pattern on Ravelry:

Cute pattern. I’m still not sure why she has included the instruction to knit them twisted to avoid holes as he yoke has the eyelet holes?! I think I would just purl the yo stitch normally.

It's a way of making an increase. It's like a M1 increase but sort of a row later. You can purl the YO tbl, it's a bit awkward but the loop is there and it makes the twist.
It's not the best written pattern.

Helpful pictures, thank you.

The K6 at both ends of the WS row are to make the garter stitches edges at the centre front so, yes, all the other stitches on the WS are purled and you purl through the back loop.

The designer isn’t writing in her first language, which is why the instructions may not be written exactly as we would expect them to be.

When the instructions say “ the yarn over are knitted twisted to prevent holes” I think it’s using knitted to mean worked, not knitted rather than purled. So, it should read “the yarn overs are worked (into a) twisted (stitch) to prevent holes.”

Having looked at this pattern and several similarly constructed ones of hers on Ravelry, I’d say that it doesn’t matter how you purl into the yo’s as long as you do them all the same. If it makes bigger holes, consider that part of the design. So, purl them normally as Squiz81 suggests, or try purling them through the back loop in a similar way to knitting through the back loop. Just decide on one way and stick to that way.

If you don’t like the look of it you can just pull it out and start again. Knitting is good like that, nothing is lost apart from your time.

Thanks all. I'll try both.

Yes, she should have said 'worked' or 'purled'. You can purl a yo tbl; it closes up the hole and makes it look more like a lifted increase but easier to work (not quite as tight as a true lifted increase).
