Help with Eastern Jewels/ Persian Tiles

Hi,
Can I have some advice! I’ve just finished Sophie’s Universe and loved it so am planning to try Eastern Jewels next. I’m doing a practice run at one of the octagons and the terminology is all different. When it’s talking about half trebles is that the same as half doubles from Sophie? Is Sophie’s Universe in US terminology? Think Persian tiles is in UK terminology?
Thanks, I’m just sitting here totally confusing myself.

Yep, a half treble is the same as a half double.

Do either of the patterns mention single crochet? That is how I usually check whether a pattern is U.K. or US terminology.

Sophie’s Universe has a lot of sc but current one does not- only ch and dc. Is sc only in US?
I think I may be doing all my stitches too big.

Double crochet is the same as single crochet

Is sc only in US

Yes. If a pattern mentions SC you know it is in US terms.

Where did you buy the pattern from? Ravelry has the pattern available in both US and UK terms so you could download whichever you're more comfortable with. If you bought a physical pattern from a UK shop then it's most likely to be UK terminology. It might say which it is somewhere on the pattern, usually near the start. And, yes, a UK half treble is the same as a US half double.

Thanks all. Think this is what the issue is. The Eastern jewels I have is definitely a UK pattern and Sophie’s Universe must be US. I’ve downloaded the US pattern from Ravelry as advised so I don’t confuse myself.
