Hello arts and crafters!

I'm in a wonderful artists chalet on holiday and her work is wonderful. There's lots of lovely pottery that's glazed beautifully and plaques and dishes etc.
It's giving me the bug have a go at home, is it possible to make lovely things out of clay and then glaze them at home or would I have to have a kiln etc?

You'd need a kiln though you can making objects in air dried clay and paint them. I'd recommend signing up to a local ceramics course if you can or investigating whether there is a local arts centre that has a kiln. They will often fire work made at home for a small fee.

You can do a course. But also find a local potter and ask to use their kiln. They can sneak a few things in for a price.

Or do what my potter friend used to do and make a raku kiln in the garden and have everyone round for a pottery and drinking party.
