Integrity question

I hope that someone here can help me with my muddle. I used to paint with oils...for fun..I'd even sold a couple of pictures. however, since downsizing I no longer have room to paint, but I have moved on to textile-based work which I really enjoy and is more practical with limited space.

Now the question I have. When I was still actively painting, a friend I had at the time told me she thought that my paintings had a lot of 'integrity'. I can't quite work out what she meant. I didn't ask at the time. would this have been a kind way to criticise?

I don't think that's a criticism. I suppose 'authentic' is a similarly used word. I'd take it to mean that you paint from your heart, rather than try to make something that's just pretty and decorative.

Thank you. Yes I do paint from the 'heart'. Whatever has a profound effect on me at any particular moment, I suppose. I never looked at it like that.
