Anyone able to recommend something to repair a rip in a linen top?

I've managed to get a rip in the sleeve of a white linen top that I like and wondered if anyone could recommend some type of tape or patch to maybe iron on to keep the ends of the rip together? It's on the underside of the sleeve so isn't completely noticeable but a rip would be more obvious than a repair. I'm not a good sewer or crafter. I can knit but that is no use in this situation Grin

Loads of stuff on amazon but just not quite sure what to get.

Seems a shame to throw away an otherwise perfectly good top that I like and is perfect for a summer cover up.

Thanks clever people.

Photo for info. I popped a pink cloth inside so you can see, the seam to the top is the undersleeve seem and to the right is the underarm - if that helps at all.

I would just use the white iron on tape for that. You can get it at most supermarkets.

Close the gap as small as possible, iron on the tape then over stitch the tape to the tear.

I agree, just your basic iron on tape.

on repair tape

Thanks folks, I've left it a bit late as I'm going on holiday on Monday but it's just the lake district so might not need cool floaty garment....Now trying to find something in a rush just in case and seemed to be so many different things - definitely don't want to end up with wundaweb type stuff though Smile

This stuff is available for delivery tomorrow - it should do the job yes?

You could do a Japanese style repair by putting a scrap of white fabric under the rip and just working rows of running stitches over it. I'm doing this with an old top that I love and is falling to bits at the moment and it is starting to look quite good.

Google boro or sashiko.

Oh that sounds a bit complicated for me @Londonmummy66 for what is essentially just a top from Sainsburys Smile just hoping to get a bit more wear out of it as it's a decent cover up but still nice and cool for summer.
