I would like a Full Circle Skirt Pattern

Wotzupnow · 19/11/2007 20:10

I need to make dd1 a 50's style poodle skirt by Friday.
Any online patterns, tips would be appreciated.

Simple, is good.

I have a wide belt to go over the elastic waist once I have finished.

I have netting too!

Circle Skirt

Poodles

Tip on positioning Poodles

Wotzupnow · 21/11/2007 10:06

Thank you
I have now made the skirt , just need to hem and finish the waist.

Making the elastic waist is hard because of the way the fabric folds down, on the curve. Any tips?

Thanks, the poodles great, I need to get some felt. I will put a pic up when I have done it.

Tip:

Remember to let material bunch up a bit... and don't worry as the belt will cover it anyway .

Sorry I can't suggest anything more appropriate...sewing was never my forte .

Wotzupnow · 21/11/2007 16:26

Yes I have bunching, it is lightweight material, I have tacked and I am ready to sew later, so we will see.

Wotzupnow · 23/11/2007 17:07

Hemming was a nightmare, didn't like it at all even with sewing machine

I got the hang of doing the waist band that was very easy, making a 4'band and folding and sewing down with elastic in place.

The hem was tough because of the curve on the bootm edge.

Poodle is in felt from the template (thanks butterfly) and can be removed. Riibbon is only sew by hand and can come off too. So the skirt be used for other things.

Yes AspirationalToiletries, DD was very happy with the finished item.

It was good fun making it, except for the hemming.

So if anyone has any good tips on that I would be grateful for next time.

Cali how does your mum manage? Can I post my hems to her next time?

Bias binding makes it easier in the long run.

Hemming a curve is the stuff of nightmares, the only way to cope with it is with bias binding, otherwise it doesn't lay flat

Wotzupnow · 23/11/2007 21:09

off to google bias binding
