Help me find a sewing pattern

Hi all! Inspired but the sewing bee I'd like to start sewing clothes. I have done a bit of sewing in the past but no clothing so I'm looking for a fairly simple pattern but also something I will actually get some wear out of.

Ideally what I would like is a summery dress, knee length with a top with sleeves that are like made out of the fabric being square, I have no idea what you call them but have a pyjama top with them which I love because I don't like fabric tight around my arms. It kind of looks like its made by folding a big rectangle in half then sewing it half way up from the bottom and then cutting in a head hole if that helps...!

I would also like it to have a waist with a bit of ribbon/tube of material through so that you can pull it together. I am about a size 12 but have a fairly small waist so would like to accentuate the positives!

The skirt I would like to be kind of loose but not floaty, just not clingy over the bum. I will maybe try to find some pictures of clothes I think have the features separately and then hope one of you fab crafters might be able to suggest a pattern Grin

Thank you!

Jersey fabric or woven? How about the Tilly &the Buttons "Bettine" dress? shop.tillyandthebuttons.com/products/bettine.
I've seen another drawstring dress, will try to remember

Erm...I'm going to say woven because I feel that could be easier as a beginner?

I like the "Bettine" at the top but am really looking for a looser skirt, one that has a larger skirt circumference at the bottom if that make sense? Not sure it's the official sewers lingo...!

Ok you may need a waist seam as wide skirts can get a bit " triangular" if you just have a front and back. One of these? www.sewdiy.com/blog/2018/1/2/new-in-the-shop-introducing-the-lou-box-dress-1-2

You can always lengthen a pattern or flare the skirt slightly.

Woven can be easier but you need to add elastic, zips or buttons which you don’t with jersey. Key with jersey is to buy a jersey needle and don’t stretch and pull it when sewing.

This seems to have the sleeves you described and is marketed as easy.

Dottie Angle dress - simplicity 1080 as described here sewingwithcupcake.blogspot.com/2015/09/dottie-angel-dress-simplicity-1080.html
is pretty easy to make with no tricky sleeves and shaped using tie backs. Plus it has pockets! I managed to make one and I'm pretty lazy and not particularly skillful!
