Could you lovelies please help me with a pricing dilemma ?

Hi,
I have my first fayre coming up next Saturday and busy making stuff.

However, I have made two dolls (not sure what else you'd call them as they aren't really toys, more for decoration really) which I'm having trouble deciding on what to price them at.

You can see them both on my blog under Princess Snowflake and Eskimo Lil

I'll take an average of the suggestions given as that'll give me a fair idea of what to price them at.

Thanks ever so for your help !

I reckon something like £15 each

I love Eskimo Lil, she is gorgeous!!

Nbg · 09/11/2007 17:39

I agree with Miomao.
£15 seems reasonable.

Nbg · 09/11/2007 17:51

Oh and good luck with the fair!

as I really wanted to do one before xmas.

Tillyboo · 09/11/2007 17:52

Thank you ladies, £15 was my thought but I just need convincing I'm not asking too much.
They both took quite a while to make so I don't want to be out of pocket.

Thank-you !

at least £15. i might stretch to £20.

SpookyMadMummy · 09/11/2007 19:05

Wish I was that creative!! I can do cross stitch and design simple stuff but blimey!!

Tillyboo · 09/11/2007 19:11

How does £15 for Eskimo Lil and £18 for princess Snowflake - cos she is bigger, sound ?

Fair, reasonable ?

OP posts:
Nbg · 09/11/2007 19:15

yes definately if shes bigger. plus she has more detailing.

callmeovercautious · 09/11/2007 19:21

Definately, I would probably pay more if it was for a special gift (Christmas for example!). But if it is your first Fair you wouldn't want to overprice yourself. If you sell out at this one you can up the Prices a bit next time.

Lovely dolls BTW. I looked at Robyns website the other day, the pictures are gorgeous!

Whizzz · 09/11/2007 19:28

Yes I'd go for £15 ish as they look as if a lot of work has gone into them.

Best of luck. I've just said yes to the school Xmas fayre on Dec 1st - might make me get myself into gear

Gingermonkey · 09/11/2007 19:38

Yep, I think around £15 too. A word of warning re the fair (spoke to some friends who say the same) - people can be quite tight, and don't want to spend a lot on children, but will spend plenty on themselves - so make sure you have a lot of bits and bobs like the christmas decorations/hanging birdies etc that you made just in case (to get your takings boosted!).

Nearly forgot - she is lovely!!!!

currantbunmum · 09/11/2007 20:46

I would say about £20. At least for all of your time and effort, I would pay that, they're lovely.

Tillyboo · 09/11/2007 21:37

Thanks so much everyone, I have a clear idea now of what to charge.

That's if I get to the fair ... I've had strange pains on my right side and feeling a bit sick every now and again. DH has just reminded me that my Osteo identified a twitchy appendix at the beginning of the year & told me to be aware of it. I immediately forgot about it as I hate hospitals. I just hope it's not going to kick off before the fayre ..... I've put so much effort into this bloody fayre, I don't want to miss it now.

Gingermonkey · 10/11/2007 00:28

TB, how . Hope you are ok

Tillyboo · 10/11/2007 08:52

Hi GM , thank-you - Blimey, I did feel rough last night but seem OK'ish this morning. Bit scary as I hate hospitals. And apart from that, don't they put a finger up er bum to check if the appendix is inflamed ????

I'm off to get my hair cut this morning & then back to crack on with my fayre stuff. Fingers crossed whatever it was won't repeat itself !

If it was a grumbling appendix, it'll happen soon if at all I expect.

Eeeek TB!

Fwiw, I hate hospitals too so know how you feel

You should be fine. Could have been a bit of wind or anything

GreebosWhiskersIsCherryRed73 · 10/11/2007 18:01

Love the dollies TB. I reckon £15 & £18 is spot-on for a fayre. Hope it goes well & that you're feeling okay.

Tillyboo · 10/11/2007 22:40

Hello all, thanks for the feedback re prices and also the well wishes.

I feel much better, have had a good fart today (scuse the basics but no point in saying 'windy pops').
It wasn't a windy pain, more where my ovaries are so don't know what was going on, I will make an appoint to see the doctor anyway, just to get checked out.

LK - I have made 3 lots of owl garlands today and they look great so thanks for the link ! They are so easy to make and look really effective in contrasting fabrics.
I'll post at some point.

How did the fair go?

Tillyboo · 10/11/2007 23:23

Hi Katymac, it's next Saturday & I'm getting very nervous but excited too. Just hope I won't be disappointed & that I sell at least a few things.

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 11/11/2007 23:27

TB, glad you are feeling better and have had a good fart, lol!
I have the owls cut out and ready to sew, it looks so easy but effective!

jellycat · 11/11/2007 23:55

I shall look out for you at the park next spring. We have passes too (it is closed now for the winter I guess).

Your dolls are lovely BTW. I think £15 about right.

Re the pain, could you have been ovulating? ovulation pain is one-sided. Hope it's not your appendix.

Tillyboo · 12/11/2007 11:49

Katy - Sorry that your fair was a bit rubbish, when's your next one ?
How are you getting on with the owls ? They look great when finished. Post a piccy when you have finished won't you. I'll try and post mine today.

Jellycat - Are you near Wellington too ? I'm in Spencers Wood, where are you ? I'll wave next Spring .
Looking at the dates it was OV time'ish but they weren't my normal pains so I don't know what the heckety heck was going on. I'm going to get checked out anyway, just to put my mind to rest.

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 12/11/2007 14:45

TB, thank you, I've cheered up now I'm thawed out, lol! I am halfway through my owls - obviously i'm hand stitching them because of my irrational fear of the machine . I'm going to do a cushion with a big owl applique too, and some appliqued bunting across the top. I'll put some pics on the blog when I'm done with them both (it'll hopefully look more exciting than it sounds!). I should have them done tonight, if I get a wriggle on. DS has been sleeping all afternoon (since 12!!!! - I keep checking he is still alive!), so I've been looking for some alphabet stamps and some ink on t'internet. Found some in the panduro book, so I might order them later on.
Next fair's a week on sat - at the posh school (and inside - whoo!!!! My poor little bum went numb yesterday, and my ears went all tingly, it was horrible!) Then I have one dec 1st, and one dec 9th and I am also supposed to be doing one at DD's old school (where her friend still goes, and my friend works) but no one has mentioned when it is yet . Mind you, I'm seeing said friend tomorrow, so I'll check.

Ooooh, also, it's the knitting and stitching fair in Harrogate a week on fri - I am so excited

jellycat · 14/11/2007 23:12

Tillyboo, yes we are quite near you, towards Wokingham .
