Quilted? Fleece? Quilted with fleece? Or knitted? Wool or synthetic?

Any tips or nice patterns?

Knitted wool.

Wool fibres have a ‘crimp’ in them that traps air which is what makes is insulating. Knitted fabrics are more insulating than woven fabrics as they have more holes and again trap air.

I would knit and then felt a woollen one.

Fleece also is insulating as it traps air in the pile.

Knitted is a good classic, it's effective and usually has some give and stretch to make it easier to get on and switch between different pots, and so so many different patterns out there.

If you wanted to sew then I'd use an insulated fleece layer like this one that you use for oven gloves.

Knitted, especially if you can get that nice 'ridged' pattern

I like the idea of knitting and felting. Hadn't thought of that! I've got some felting wool leftover from a hat project. Now to find a pattern - Ravelry here I come!Grin

Come to think of it, that hat is unwearable... maybe I could chop it about a bit and refashion it into a tea cosy...hmmmm...
