I love making things in particular sewing. I don't make clothes but things like wash bags, make up bags, masks, hair scrunchies, napkins, face wipes etc....

I can knit but not crochet.

I can make basic candles.

What else can I make? I do try and sell some of my stuff to fund my hobby!

I do need help as it keeps me out of mischief as I am in tier 4 and have to shield so need things to make .

Thanks x

What about cotton rucksacks? Also you could try making macrame wall hangings...they're popular. My friend sells a lot of hers. 70s style like this
She collects nice branches and uses them as the hanger.

Why not learn a new skill?
Crochet, weaving?
I’m just beginning to furnish a doll house.

I love my round knitting loom. So many YouTube tutorials and cheap!

Microwave heat cushions/ wheat bags

For some reason I cannot crochet, even had lessons!

I have made 4 back packs before, 1 of them I made out of PVC table cloth. Too scared to sell just in case they are not strong enough.

Why not try making some clothes, start with something relatively simple, pj bottoms, shorts, a-line skirt and see how you get on. Fleece pj bottoms are quite forgiving as they have stretch so don't have to be a perfect fit and would be something you only wear at home so good practice.

If not, you could try your hand at embroidery/cross stitch and use that to embellish the wash bags and other items you're sew8ng up.

Have you tried placemats and coasters? You can back them in 3mm felt.

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 29/12/2020 17:13

I have made place mats before, I even bought the special heat proof wadding.

Doll clothes in the relevant sizes for Baby Born/Annabelle baby dolls, Our Generation type dolls and Barbie etc.
I would buy those.

What about felting small animals? I have just discovered this, and find it very absorbing and relaxing.

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 31/12/2020 11:09

Dippydog, I tried needle felting a couple of years ago as I have a friend who makes amazing things. Put it this way - I never ever want to try it again, I can still remember the pain when the needle would stab into my finger numerous times. I never finished my 1st project of a mini teddy.

I've been doing loads of knitting recently.

  1. keeps my hands busy so they don't reach for the crisps
  2. apparently all of DDs teddies and dolls need hats, scarves and booties
  3. making dolls clothes is super quick and gives almost immediate satisfaction, no projects that end up back in the bag never to be finished, just a couple of hours and done!

There’s loads of hobbies to do, it just depends what you fancy. I enjoy all textiles, cross stitching, tapestry, rug making, weaving, knitting, crochet, needle felting. I make little stuffed toys for my kids!
I also started diamond painting which is fun, decoupage is great for one off bits and pieces. I’ve made 3D wall names for the kids, I’m going to do a “treasure box” next for my dd.
Adult colouring is relaxing, I have just bought a journal to have a go at bullet journaling and I also have a 3D pen to mess about with.
Upcycling is on my list, I’m about to start a bed for my dd. My first project. 😀
