Knitting patterns online - recommendations please

Could anyone recommend somewhere I could find stylish but not too complicated knitting patterns? I used to knit as a teenager and was quite competent at making my own sweaters. I haven’t done it for many years but am looking to start again. In the past I’d have nipped to the local wool shop but, now these are all gone, where do I start? I’ll need needles and wool too so a good, inexpensive all round site is what I’m looking for. Many thanks in advance.

Lots of free patterns on Love Crafts, and they do yarn, needles and other supplies too. All my Christmas knitting projects are from there!

Ravelry is great

Agree to both the below recommendations. There are loads of online yarn shops large and small.
What sort of thing do you fancy knitting?
You could start with a kit

I know they aren't cheap but if I'm putting hours into making something I like it to be worth it in terms of quality.

Purl soho ! It’s a New York wool shop - while it’s a second mortgage to buy anything there, the patterns are free, available online and contemporary.

Kim Hargreaves patterns are great and some v easy.

Second ravelry. Very good for searching, including difficulty level. Just stay away from the forums if you want to have any time to knit in

Knitty.com, all the patterns are free, there are some lovely original patterns and they are rated for difficulty from mellow to extra spicy Grin

You need Ravelry.

Ravelry - if you use the advanced pattern search, you can narrow down your search by difficulty, garment/item type, yarn weight etc - and there are hundreds,if not thousands of free patterns.
