I want to use clear resin - advice please

I'm fascinated by resin!

Not sue what I want to make / use it for (I've seen lots of interesting uses online). I'm not bad at crafty stuff and fancy using clear resin, however, there seems to be a confusing amount of products to choose from - even Hobbycraft bewildered me with different products and didn't help that instructions weren't in English!

Can anyone recommend a basic clear pouring resin, not too expensive for a beginner and with easy instructions. Thank you

This is something I really want to try.
As a child I had a set called plasticraft and it was a basic resin kit, with moulds etc , this was in the 70s.
I've been looking on line and am alsO confused, I will probably just take a chance.

Why am I finding it so difficult! All I want is a starter pack of clear resin to pour in some moulds, but the bewildering array of products out there is off-putting. I will try again with You Tube / Google / Ebay etc.

I was about to say "there was another thread about this" but I now see it was yours too 😂

It was short but there were a couple of suggestions :)

I keep wanting to try resin on polymer clay jewellery. Mostly when it’s used like this as a varnish/coating, UV resin seems the route - people buy uv lamps used for acrylic nails that you can pick up quite cheaply and it’s much quicker than the stuff that takes 48hrs+ to cure. I’m put off by the potential toxicity of the fumes given off as I would be doing it indoors - I think I would only consider doing it if I had a proper mask ( and by that I mean an industrial one not just a flimsy one). I think you’d definitely need an industrial grade mask if you were doing pours or casting but I’d be interested to hear from someone that actually knows what they’re talking about and has some experience Smile

www.amazon.co.uk/PEBEO-Gedeo-Crystal-Resin-Transparent/dp/B0027J1DB2/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=pebeo+resin&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1606568258&sr=8-5

This would be perfect for pouring into moulds. You just want a clear resin with part a and b. Mix the correct ratios together and stir slowly until they're mixed together perfectly (you need to go slow to prevent air bubbles) pour into your moulds, pop any bubbles that come to the top and leave for 24 hours to set. At the pouring stage you can also put things into your resin like stickers, dried flowers, glitter or resin dye.

The Pebeo Gedeo is the resin I use. Not too expensive, cures fully in around 24 hours (depending on size and thickness of mould). It is fun experimenting with different inclusions, I will try and attach a picture of my latest creations done by half filling mould, letting it set, decorating with glitter glues and then a second layer of clear resin, also resin coloured with a drop of printer ink with silver glitter stars and a plain one with silver glitter stars.
