Any dolls house experts out there?

I am planning to do up a dolls house I’ve had for donkeys years so that my daughter can play with it. It’s a 1/16th scale I believe, but I’m having problems getting windows and doors to fit!

Any advice or tips (about renovating a dolls house!) would be most welcome!

If its 1/16, is it a Lundby? You might be able to get replacement doors, etc from their website.
And there's often loads of cheap stuff on eBay.
Apart from doors and windows, what else is needed? Is it structurally OK?

It’s a hobby’s hobbies dolls house. On their website you can only get the same ones I’ve got, I could paint them but I think it might not be worth it! Structurally it’s ok, it just needs a total face lift as the paper is peeling and damaged and it’s just looking very dated. Will have a look at eBay, thanks for the tip Smile

Have you tried Wish and AliExpress?

No help, but I think I have the same dollshouse. Is it the green and white windows? I kept them as retro chic but redid the floors and wallpaper 😃

I just had to google making dollshouse windows and there are some videos (even some teeny tiny sashes), but it looks far too fiddly for my fat fingers, but you might be more dainty than I am.

Yes they are @BigBadBox! Lol I can’t bear the green 😅 So sadly I can’t find any that will fit, I’ve taken them out and I’m going to try a DIY job. You can buy lengths of wood from craft shops that will fit when cut down. Hopefully it’s going to look ok!

I’m definitely not an expert but I’ve done various little jobs with wide lolly sticks and a sharp scissors. If it’s a trickier cut, scoring first with a sharp knife or even a pin will help.
I use glue dots to hold pieces in place while I’m glueing or doing anything fiddly. They’re invaluable! And I highly recommend light coats of spray paint over a brush every time.

If you’re painting give them a good scuff with sandpaper first and the paint will grip better.
