Cross Stitch

I love cross stitching and have completed a couple of projects over lockdown. I generally buy complete kits but have seen some patterns that I like the look of however they are just pattern only.

I've found some Aida fabric on eBay at a reasonable price but where can I get the threads from cheaply? I would need specific colours or very close to. I've seen the bulk packs on eBay but colours aren't guaranteed. Is there any way I can do this in a cost effective way?

I'm just looking around and pricing up before I commit to anything as I want to make sure I don't spend more than a full kit would cost.

Hi, there are plenty of online places if you have the colour numbers. Try Hobbycraft as a starting point

Thank you - I don't have the numbers yet as I've not bought the pattern as wanted to research first. The problem is the pattern I've seen says it needs 47 colours and many places online sell for around £1 per skein so wondered if there was a cheaper way of doing it. The cheapest I've found is about 70p so still over £30 just for threads.

Kitting things up yourself can be expensive but the patterns are usually much more complex and enjoyable than the kits. Lakeside Needlecraft are good for buying floss and one of the cheapest, their delivery times are good too.

If you enjoy cross stitch you’ll soon build up a stash of floss and fabric so you won’t be starting from scratch each time.

That is a lot.of colours for one piece! 70p sounds good (annoyingly they're much cheaper in the US).
