Folksy or Etsy?

I used to sell personalised cards on EBay but found it expensive and laborious so I'm thinking of Folksy or Etsy.

Does anyone have experience of either of these and if so, which would you recommend?

Thanks 🙂

I sold on Etsy for over 5 years but the number of sellers there increased every year until now there are millions. Loads of sellers in every category. I then tried Folksy as my sales on Etsy were dwindling, and their fees were increasing but I never sold one item on Folksy. I have stopped selling now. You might do better to try a local Facebook group. Wherever you do sell, try to make sure that your cards have some originality, so that you stand out from the competition, as decent cards are so easy to find on Amazon now. Good luck!

@Zany15 Thank you, that is all very helpful. I've looked on Etsy and Folksy and there is nothing similar to what I do. I'll give it some more thought 🙂

I sell on etsy, have done so for 5 years, though it took a year or so to make my first sale. I've now had over 400 sales so I am quite happy with etsy. I only sell as a sort of adjunct to my hobby, not as a proper business though, so anything is a plus.

I haven't tried folksy. Isn't it just a UK site? A significant portion of my buyers are from outside the UK.

I have also sold the same products on eBay. Generally it was ok, but I find eBay buyers rather confrontational and can be rude or demanding, whereas etsy buyers just appreciate the skill you have put into your products, so I tend not to bother with eBay anymore.

Sorry, not much use to you really, given I know nothing about folksy. I just wanted to say you can do well on etsy.

@Kittytheteapot , thank you. I used to sell cards on EBay and agree that some buyers can be rather abrasive. I'm not doing it as a business, more just to fund more craft supplies.

Folksy is for UK based sellers but I think anyone can buy the products.
