Knitting baby legwarmers

How would you go about making baby legwarmers? I thought just make a sleeve, but not sure how many stitches to cast on. Or does anyone have a pattern for knitting them in the round? I've never done that before

I could tell you, but are you sure you want to commit that fashion crime? What about just putting long trews on the poor thing?

There's a good pattern here - I've knitted a few pairs for 2.6yo dd3 & you could easily adjust it to fit your lo better. I just used dk although aran weight would probably work too & if you're not happy with dpns just use 2 needles & mattress stitch the seam. They're actually really cute

But his legs get soooo cold and I only have a few years in which I can dress him in what I like [evil cackle emoticon] Thanks GW, will have a look

I can't stand those pictures of babies in vests with leg warmers - they just look wrong. OK if you're a ballerina maybe, but only just! Why not woolly trews or even long woolly tights to go under his trousers - there are some cute patterns for those around.

oh no, not in a vest a la flash dance - I was just thinking to cover the gap between trousers and socks in a sling or buggy. Tights are a good idea - I cd just buy those
