Invisible Zipper Foot for YKK zips

Aaargh. First attempt to insert an invisible zip. Appreciate it's tricky but I don't think the zipper foot is up to it (got it in a multi pack). Feels like the channel is too small?.
.
Found what looks like the same on Amazon and in the comments someone has said it doesn't fit YKK zips. There is a pack of zipper feet designed specifically for YKK zips in Amazon but it's £24 and I really don't want to pay that.
.
Is the zipper foot shit or is it just me? I did the LH side ok but RH side buggers up every time. Have looked at various tutorials and think I'm doing it right but to no avail.
.

Any advice?

Do you have a piping foot? I have found It is best to buy the specific branded for your machine model. I’ve done that with An amazon set before and found the zipper foot to be garbage.

Also do you iron the zip before sewing? I find that really helpful at opening it up to get in to stitch close.

Thanks BFF I had ironed the zip but not well enough I don't think so I did it again. I did manage to get the zip in ok but I had to go very slowly and was convinced that it was going to go through the zip teeth at any moment.
.
Is a piping foot better? I'm not sure and am too tired to get up and look now. Spent all afternoon trying to get the fit right on a (toile) skirt for my DD. Skirt 1 was too small, skirt 2 was great at hips but miles too big at the waist, I then recut a smaller size waistband and skirt pieces (after unpicking everything) so that the waist of the skirt panels was the same size as the new waistband but remained same hip size but when I put it on it was both pulling at the bum area AND had excess fabric at the side hip. Aaaaaaarrrgh.
.
I've put it away for the night.
.
Felt like crying!
.
Total beginner though so fairly normal?
.
I have the John Lewis beginner machine and don't think they do specific footers for it?

I have the JL beginner machine - you need a Janome foot - if you email their customer services (Janome not JL) they quickly tell you which one to get. Don’t bother asking John Lewis customer services - they are shocking online. You have to take the whole foot off by the way - I didn’t know this and was just trying to fit the bottom bit!

Thank you both, very helpful 😊
