Another cross stitch plea for help!

Disclaimer: I'm a total cross stitch novice (apart from doing some with my nan when I was about 10, so I don't think that counts).

I want to make a small sampler for a friend's anniversary, and have found this card kit here that I like.

I'd prefer to mount it in a frame rather than the card though - is there anything I need to bear in mind before I purchase it? How do you go about getting cross stich framed? Assuming I don't just buy a frame and mount and Bob's yer uncle... Does it need to be stretched somehow?

Any advice / pointers / tips would be gratefully received!

You can find really helpful videos on youtube and pinterest. It does need to be stretched over card to make sure that the picture is tight. I sometimes have to get DH to help me hold it tight and in the right place
Lovely one you have chosen, good luck!

Also you could try googling cross stitch frame and use one of them, they are circular and can be used to hold aida tight when sewing. I often use these to frame small ones I've done and easier that framing

Thanks for you replies, @Needsomezzzz . I have a hoop that I'll use when I'm doing the cross stitch, but I would prefer a rectangular frame for the finished article. Thanks for the tips about stretching the aida, I've done a bit of googling and have a bit more idea now about how to tackle it. One of the sites I read was quite particular about using acid-free card (but one of the others was at the other end of the scale and suggested using a cereal packet Grin ) What do you generally use?

Usually a cereal box, because its thin so I can still get it in a frame.
I've also recently tried using a box frame and stapling tight on the back, the corners where fiddly!
Def found sewing the edges makes it tighter, looks at bit crazy but seem to hold well

I've always just got mine professionally framed. Its never been too expensive, but its normally for larger projects where the thought of attempting to frame it and damaging it after months and months of work is too much of a risk!
