Hello,
I'm looking to learn to knit. I've always wanted to .....and now I have time to fill!

I need everything to get going. Does anyone recommend anywhere online where I can order all in one go, needles wool patterns etc. Very much beginner with no experience

Thanks!

You can buy on Amazon what you need. To start you need just 2 items:
Yarn: Get a ball of acrylic yarn (cheaper) in double knit (DK) or Chunky yarns come in different weights and DK is the standard, chunky is thicker and also good beginners.

Needles: get a pair of 5mm needles, they come in metal, wood, bamboo, plastic,

You can also get these items in Poundland, Aldi, Wilko for a couple of pounds if you have them near you

Look at you tube for a tutorial you like the look of and learn to cast on

Then it’s a process of practice knitting squares or a scarf until you get the basic idea

Look on Ravelry for beginner patterns free when you have mastered the basic stocking stitch

Wool warehouse is fab and very reasonably priced. And your order arrives in a lovely bag too!

Thanks both. I also found this place we are knitters but they seem a bit expensive, i do really like the blanket though

Before you get into too much expense, I would check out the free patterns. Heirloom crafts do a Buddy doll. It is very simple just 32 stitches by 50 rows with full instructions.

I ordered an oversized cardigan knitting set from here this week
I'm excited for it to arrive!

I've just completed this one - not cheap, but lovely quality wool and very easy to follow instructions. I'm very pleased with the snood I made.

Actually follow harperlee's link - same make, and cheaper!

I guess it would help to know roughly what you are after when ordering. I'm not a knitter (I crochet) so I use Wool Warehouse for yarn and hooks mostly. They have SO much so I guess kit that helpful to you if you're looking for starter kits. There is one kit called "Rico My First Knitting Kit" which might be worth a look.

Verypink knits is really good for online tutorials. I learned to knit with a combination of her videos and googling step by step instructions for terms in patterns etc. I would not start with a kit, I'd get a few balls of a cheap dk yarn, something like stylecraft special dk, and a set of 4mm and 5mm cheap needles to get the hang of the basics, before shelling out on nicer yarn etc. Deramores are good, but you can get yarn and needles on amazon or ebay too, and lots of smaller shops are still selling online. Dishcloths or a plain scarf are a good first project. Ravelry is my go to for patterns, there are so many, some free, some pay to download.

I bought a full set of bamboo needles on eBay a few years ago very cheaply. Might be worth a look? Although one pair of 4s and a ball or two of any wool would do to start.
