Meet the 'Hugglies' in my Profile

I've just booked onto a 2 day craft event at the end of the month and wanted to make something different to sell, other than cushions, laundry bags etc.

So...... meet the Hugglies in my Profile Photo's.

I thought I'd charge about £12.50 for each 'Huggly'. They are about 12 inches high from ear to toe (although they don't have any toes but you know what I mean).

I need to do some 'Boy' colours and fabrics so that's next on my to do list. Each one has an individual name, like DAVE, to make them 'one off's'.

I am also making different shapes.

Do you think £12.50 is a fair price ? Should I charge more ? less ? Do you think that they might go down well or am I way off the mark here ?

All have difference fabric on the back from the front - sort of hotchpotch.

Some feedback would be great & much apreciated

Hi MadEyeMisdee - I'll let you know about the Lavender. Haven't a clue when the best time is to harvest and drying time but will look into it - thanks for the offer!

All I know is that you shouldn't cut into the old wood of a plant.

Hi Chocolateteapot - that's a good idea about wheat. Mmm, now I have so many ideas running around my head, it's fit to pop

Tillyboo - I know, that was very out of character for me . Email me I would love to make a horsey for your little one katyejones at hotmail dot com. Thanks ever so much!!! And thats for the ribbon tip - I do have a hoobycraft nearby (that place is dangerous - far too many lovely things for me to buy!!!!)

Tillyboo, I think £12.50 is a very fair price for this, I would even push for £15. THey are so cute and different, if people like them they will pay the price instead of bargain hunters looking for the best price they can get! I would pay £15.00, they are unique and have individual characters, which lets face it there aren't enough original gift ideas out there - unless you go to woolies and buy mass produced S*$%e!

By the way, I wish I could sew!!!!

Gingermonkey · 03/08/2007 00:08

oh dear - went to hobbycraft today and giddy in the ribbon section and got some lovely ones (for a certain little girl's horsey - which is just having the legs attached as we speak and will be finished by 12.30 this am - I can't go to bed til she's done, too excited!)

Thanks loopyredangel ! It's so difficult trying to price things. You don't want to price yourself out of the market but then on the other hand you don't want to be too cheap.

Actually, I've just received my woven labels with my name on to sew onto my Hugglies and they looks so much more professional so maybe I'll have to think about price again.

I've only been sewing for about 10 months. I decided one day last year that I quite fancied making some cushions and went out and bought a sewing machine. Didn't even know how to thread it. I got thrown out of needlework at school for being so bad and uninterested.
So, my point is - if I can do it, sew can you .... get it? he! he!

I'm going to make some doorstops too, I've got the rice to weigh them down. But they will have a slightly different twist to what you think a doorstop would look like - I'll post a pic when I've finished one.

Ruby, I love the idea of weighted bookends, very clever ! I'll add that to my list of 'ideas to do' which is growing.

GM - just seen her and she's GORGEOUS ! I've sent you an email. You are a clever bunny

Tillyboo and Gingermonkey- I love your stuff. you are so creative (and talented with the old needle!). I am especially impressed with the tags on the horses manes, Gingermonkey, what a great idea as kids love this.

Gingermonkey · 03/08/2007 10:08

loopy - I am not a proper sewer either, I didn't do it at school because it was boring! I started doing cross stitch and got fed up with that and just started doing bits and bobs recently. Sew ( to nick tillyboo's clever play on words!) just give it a go!

Gingermonkey · 09/08/2007 18:26

tillyboo - I sent your horsey out to you yesterday so I hope you get her soon X

Tillyboo · 09/08/2007 23:02

Ooh, goody, looking forward to getting her.

of course hubby just told me the posties are striking again tomorrow so it may be saturday when she arrives. DH sent a special delivery the other day and it took an extra day, and they weren't even stiking then. Makes me very cross!!! (although the lovely postie that delivers my stuff should get a raise because he is very nice )

Hi GM - M'Lilly arrived this morning and she's lovely. DD is very happy indeed !

I've been very busy making too so it's lovely to receive something rather than give.

M'Lilly & Tilly are currently lying on a giant beanbag watching Scooby Do at the moment. Very happy they are too

That's great, I'm really pleased you are both happy with her.
I'm manic busy at the minute, I got a wholesale order!!! . 6 horses and 6 rabbits for the middle of september. I'm feeling brave now so I think I'll try a couple of other places.
