Quilting with loose weave fabric

Don't laugh (okay do laugh) I am about to make a quilt in a swiss cross/ plus sign pattern. Lots of squares and rectangles and gamely following my squared paper plan, stash reduction in progress. Except I have a loose weave fabric in the plan. The weave is more open I've carefully cut out the squares and rectangles only to find that when I stich it with the rest of the row, it's going to warp or not hang true. I feel if I stabilise the fabric with regular iron on stabiliser, it should solve the problem, but would stay-stitching help as well? I'm aiming on a seam allowance of 0.5 minimum. I don't want to ditch the fabric and delve into the stash again! Any thoughts? Please help!!

edit point weave is more open than linen but it's not scrim, I think

Can you starch it loads and loads?

Thanks DownUdderer I have a can of starch and I will nuke some pieces with that!

I think the loose weave could be a problem, (when you actually quilt the quilt it will add some stability), but could be a pain if you quilt with a machine, because the fabrics will probably be quite stretchy. You might end up with major folds or bunching. But if you hand quilted or tie the quilt you could be ok.

Thanks DownUdderer I've decided to ditch the fabric and use something else. It was a remnant via a carboot sale so no great loss.
