Beginner crochet, aran weight help please

A keen beginner ive bought loads of lovely paintbox cotton aran weight yarn to crochet with.
I'd planned a summer top made from 2 rectangles thinking it would work up fast...it does but it's really heavy...which is obvious now Smile
So what else can I make with 20 balls (yep 20) of cotton aran weight yarn?
I've tried a ripple blanket but did something wrong with wonky edges and took it apart. I'd love an easy project please. Thanks for reading Smile

Wonky edges for a ripple blanket: Make sure you're putting the increases and decreases on the same stitches of each row, and don't forget your turning chains the end of the rows.

Beginner's tip: If you're trying a new pattern/stitch for the first time it can be really helpful to work up a test swatch first (to see how it will look and to help you get the hang of it) before making a partial blanket that you end up frogging.

Summer tops: Try a lace weight or use a double knit with a larger hook. 4-4.5mm will give you shorter stitches closer together with DK, whereas a 5mm+ hook will give you taller stitches further apart, so a more lacy appearance.

Alternative Aran weight projects: Scarves, hats, cushion covers, various blankets (try a granny square), decorative baskets, coasters, cotton also works for pan rests (acrylic will melt but cotton fine) in the kitchen, scrubbies, cloths, bathroom floor mats.

Places to go: Check out Bella Coco videos on YouTube And Attic24 is a brilliant blog.

Oh and Ravelry. You can refine your pattern search by all sorts of things, so I would start with Crochet/ Aran weight/ free availability.

You're welcome. If it's not your turning chains or inc/dec placement then depending on how wonky it could be that your gauge isn't uniform, or just that you need to stretch it out a little. If it happens on other projects work up a test swatch or do a row or two, frog and start over so you get into the swing of it, or have a look at blocking (wet it, shape it, dry it).

A wonky edged Ripple is almost always because you've missed the very last stitch of the row that goes into the top of the turning chain IME. I have my very own wonky edge ripple in a heavy cotton kapok mix yarn 😂

This blanket works up beautifully in cotton yarn:
