Knitting 'short rows'

Got a pattern for a vest top and did some short rows on the bottom, that was fine, no problem, but for the chest you have to do short rows if you're above a B cup. As I'm a D it says to do the short rows twice, do I actually repeat them or work to the next stitch to 'wrap' it. So if I started wrapping at the third stitch and finished on the sixth, would I then finish on the twelth stitch?
Sorry if that's a bit confusing but I am a bit flumoxed tbh.

I've not come across this before, but I would imagine the point of the short rows is to add V shaping at the sides of the bust to prevent stretching. So knit the required number of stitches, keeping to the pattern, turn, work the stitches you have just knitted, then start the full row again as per the pattern. Does that make sense? Am I right in thinking you are knitting this in the round? If so, you will have to knit the short rows as if you were using straights.

Yes I've got that, but on the instructions for the bottom short rows, you knit and wrap up to the sixth stitch, so if it says do it twice, do I do it twice or do i carry on up the the twelfth stitch. I'm not explaining it very well, sorry. Thanks for your help.

Sorry Rantinghousewife, I didn't mean to state the obvious. Am probably being very thick, but I'm not sure what the term 'wrap up to' means. Without knowing the exact instructions, I think if they had wanted you to knit to the twelfth stitch it wouldn't have mentioned the sixth stitch, unless this wrapping up is part of the pattern. Can you transcribe the instructions? Or maybe someone with more experience (although I do knit a lot...) will come along.

Ok will give it a try, it says for the rounded bottom ....begin short rows. Work acrss to within 3st of end of row. Wrap the next stitch (with yarn in back, slip next st from left hand to right hand needle, bring yarn to front of work, slip back to left hand needle) turn work around and work back to other end to within 3 sts of end of row. wrap next s, work back to other end to within 4 st of end etc. Cont until six sts on each side of front have been wrapped.
Then you get to the bust and it says Work evenly until back is 11" (Note is you wear a C cup or larger here is the place to put more short rows as worked at the bottom edge. Repeat these instructions once for a C cup, twice for a D. Not sure if that's any clearer, the short rows didn't make any sense to me on the bottom until I started to do them.

OK I understand now why you are confused!! If it was me I would knit the short rows until I had wrapped the six stitches, then do the exact same thing again, ie start with three stitches, and work until six stitches have been wrapped. I think if you do it continuously until twelve stitches have been wrapped it would make the middle too baggy. One thing I don't understand is why you are doing this to the back - the front would make more sense to me .

Thank you Mabelmurple, you are a star! Was thinking about this last night and if I had read your first post properly, I would have had my answer the first time, duh! You gave me the answer when you said it should be a V at the sides. Oh well.
Am not working the back, am working the front, will remember not to do the short rows for the back. (I hope!!)

You're welcome RH - hope it's all plain sailing from now on. Remember to post a picture of the finished vest!

Ha, have finished the 'short rows', as you suggested and guess what? It actually looks pretty good, you can see it's a shaping for a bust. Am really chuffed, did I say thank you? Well, thank you. (Rh preens and bows in a ridiculously overstated fashion)
