Hello....I am pleased to say I can crochet, and would live to make something I can wear...but where to start?! I can crochet a granny square, amigurumi and I've completed a basket. So easy projects so far. I need an easy pattern and some yarn. I'm really stuck on what yarn to buy, I want to treat myself to something nice and soft but don't want to spend a fortune. Please let me know your ideas

I've just finished this jumper, well, nearly finished, I'm still sewing in the ends and it has to be blocked. It's a good one for a beginner because you don't need to set in sleeves. It was also a good one for me because I like loose-fitting clothes.

I used Malabrigo Silky Merino which is lovely and soft, but I bought it in a sale when it was 30% off and it was still quite expensive. Drops Merino Extra Fine is beautifully smooth and soft, and very reasonably priced, I've used it a few times. I've also felt Drops Sky and it's very light and soft. My favourite go to yarn is Drops Baby Alpaca Silk which I dye using food colouring gel. It feels incredible to the touch but it wouldn't be the best for a jumper I don't think.

I've also made two very easy summer tunics if that would be your thing, this pattern. It's a bit like a giant granny rectangle. I made my first one in Drops Paris which is aran-weight yarn that the pattern called for, but I made my second one in Drops Belle which is a DK weight yarn. It was easy to adjust for the different yarn weight as I just kept doing extra rounds until it was the size that I wanted.
