Knitting question - how to neatly join ends for a mobius scarf?

Just that really -

I have 7 to do, and want them all to look nice, but me and sewing in ends and joining seams etc don't seem to go well together in knitting.

Any tips, ideas, or links to youtube tutorials or similar?

(Anything except ravelry - I can't find my login for there and anytime I have gone in, I get completely lost for hours and I don't have that time available at present).

Thanks so much!

Hi Biddy

How would you feel about doing them on circular needles? You just cast on and make a single twist before joining your stitches and off you go. Mark the end stitch of your row just so you know when you have completed a row. The first couple of rows might be a little awkward while you ease your twist into place but after that you should just be able to crack on.

See, Woolly, that is exactly what a sensible person would do.

Me not being so sensible, has already knitted the 7 long length, short row scarves, and now have to join the ends.

It seemed like a good idea last January....

In that case I would use a mattress seam as that would give the flattest join.

Sorry. Posted quickly while I was waiting in a shop.

Twist the scarf. Pin the bottom and top so that the edges are straight. Pin down the rest of the seam. Mattress stitch zigzags catching loops from opposite edges. I sew up with my cast on and cast off tails - hopefully for a scarf you will have enough length from your tails to do this without having to use any extra yarn.

How to sew an invisible seam

Thank you both!!! That's exactly what I needed - to know the method and the name of it too, the link showed it perfectly so I can now "see" how it should work!!
