Craft for charity

I like knitting and basic sewing (I.e. slightly wonky patchwork not polished quilting. Can't crochet or do fancy lacy knitting. I was thinking it would be nice to make something for a charity - can anyone recommend something up to date? I found various websites but not quite sure if they're from ages ago. I don't have loads of spare time so won't be making masses of stuff!

Bump - I'm interested in this too Smile

I work for a stray dog charity called Hope Rescue in South Wales and we're always looking for crafters to make dog coats (both knitted or sewn) and snufflemats (I can send instructions if you don't know how to make one). We sell the items in order to raise funds for the rescue dogs, pay vet bills, buy food and treats etc. Let me know if you'd be interested and I can send you more info. Ta :)

Woolly Hugs via Mumsnet, in Body & Soul, or their website
www.woollyhugs.org/

They are always needing small blanket squares & other items.

woolly hugs are always looking for stuff. It can be as simple as a knitted square, it doesn't have to be fancy or lacy, and is an easy, quick and mindless in front of tv type project.

For those of us who can't knit or crochet, woolly hugs do 2 craft sales per year. One's coming up in a few days!

Find them on Facebook and join in.

Further to Catmint's message, Woolly Hugs have their Spring Craft Sale coming up, so up so you can still get involved Smile

There's also Knit for Peace. They take practically anything knitted or crocheted, will post on their webpage anything they're particularly short of.

They work with care homes, hospices and hospitals in the UK as well as international charities.

MacarenaFerreiro I've just had a look at your link, what a wonderful charity! I have made a note for the future.

There's a lot of charities out there doing great work. Personally, I'd much rather give to Woolly Hugs or Knit for Peace than those vague facebook pages about some hospital, somewhere, being in need of prem baby hats.

If you prefer sewing there is a great charity called Jen's friends who make mastectomy cushions for women with breast cancer.
