Can you take Denise knitting needles on planes?

I've just bought a set of Denise needles (Yay!) and I can't find any information about knitting needles on flights. I don't think I would risk taking normal needles and Denise say you can, but I wouldn't want to have to leave them at the airport. Nor do I fancy a 23 hour flight without knitting - it seems such a waste of being forced to sit down for such a long time!
Does anyone have any experience of this?
(It's BA by the way, I've emailed them but no response so far)

There are lots of discussions about this online and my impression is that you just can't tell- certainly when I flew this week there were signs up at Heathrow still banning knitting needles. Several people have posted that they were told Denise needles were OK only to get there and find them banned by whoever was manning the desk that day. My feeling is that it's not worth it as you'd spoil the set if you weren't allowed to take them on board in the end. Pain, though.

You could take lots of knitting magazines and sob quietly

I think any circ would be looked upon with a frown as they are a bit of a good substitute for a wire garrotte
