How to sort this dress?!

Not sure if this is the right place to post-
We're due to wear these gorgeous bridesmaid dresses in 4 weeks. Some of the lace top bits are flopping down. Other than tit tape, is there something else we can use to keep the lace upright?!

Fabric starch?

landgirl1 · 11/04/2018 11:36

You could add thin bootlace straps, or sew very narrow elastic round the top (like how a boob tube works) but some form of tit tape may be the easiest!

Fabric starch. Lots of it.

Maybe hairspray once it is on? Might need to check first on a hidden area.

BigFatBloomers · 11/04/2018 14:59

How annoying! If the starch doesn’t work, I wonder if you could get away with a bit of interfacing, like wundaweb, just to make it a bit stiffer.

I'm nervous about spraying anything on the dress. Is there any risk with spraying starch on it?

I have never had an issue with starch staining things, but I am not an expert.

BigFatBloomers · 11/04/2018 17:41

Spray starch should be ok as it just washes out but I’d hate to be responsible for any horrors!

You could try tacking on some interfacing to see if it did the trick.

If you have a friendly fabric shop nearby, I’d head down there. They’re usually great at suggesting solutions.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I shall try some starch spray and tit tape!
