Hi, I am new to Fair Isle Knitting and am looking to buy a set of needles for knitting in the round (apologies if incorrect terminology).

I have seen some very fancy interchangeable needles with the cable to join them. Am I better off investing in a set of these, buying individual ones on cables, or sticking to the traditional double pointed ones?

Thank you.

I really like Addi Turbos. Very smooth at the join - I couldn't get on with the interchangeable ones.

I prefer non interchangeable ones, I found that they came Unscrewed when I had changeable Ines. It's cheaper to buy set ones too and you don't tend to need loads of sizes!

Thank you for your replies. I had seen the square ones and wondered what on earth they were for. I think I will get a set of each and see which I get on with, but give the interchangeable ones a miss. Thank you.

For fairisle I often use the KnitPro system with 'lace' needles attached. These are the gold coloured ones and they have a slightly more tapered point than the standard silver coloured ones.

In general an interchangeable system offers the best flexibility and adjustability in terms of overall length when knitting in the round and increasing or decreasing as the same time, such as with a yoke or when doing body shaping.

HTH.

@justbegrateful thank you. That makes sense.
