Anyone made the Attic 24 ripple blanket?

I just have a question about doing the border, can anyone help?

In the pattern I have, the first border row is all tr (trebles), and then the second row is dc (doubles). My question is when I start the dc row, should I work them into the first loop of the previous chain only or use both loops? If I use the top chain only, it's raised on one side, so it starts to look like the blanket has a front and back (whereas this hasn't been obvious until I started doing that).

This is my first big project so I'm not sure!

Thanks.

I've not done the pattern so I can't advise how I have done it, but this link has some really great photos and descriptions of each stage.

Hope that helps with what your blanket looks like (and thanks for the next project inspiration!!)

Thanks for the link! Darn it, it gives a really good tip about how to deal with tail ends, which I didn't have in my pattern! Too late now, never mind!

Anyway thanks, I've worked it out, it's better to use both front and back loops of each chain as it ends up flat and not raised. Still learning!

Use both loops! It's a lovely pattern, I've made one blanket with it and finally bought wool to start working on a second. Do use the attic24 blog about edging it too, I found it really clear.

Ooh, thanks for this - I'm about 8 rows away from finally reaching the border so very timely! I'm loving the blanket though - my first big project and so satisfying.

Unfortunately this keeps happening, which is slowing me down...

Argh, now I've got a problem turning the corner & filling in the gaps of the ripple to make the top row straight.
When I turn the corner, after doing as it says - 2dc, chain 2, 2dc all into last stitch - I end up with a massive hole which definitely doesn't show in the photo on the blog. Help!
Having trouble also identifying next stitch to work into after all those corner stitches.
Diamantegal - isn't it fab when you can start using it as a blanket even though not quite finished!!

If your corner looks too "holey" just do 1 chain inbetween the 2dc.

You then need to pull/stretch the blanket to see where your next stitch goes - stitches in effect "lean back" so your first stitch on the next edge goes into a space which is almost in the corner space you've just created.

TBH Crochet borders are very forgiving so don't fret if you miss a stitch or add in an extra one. It really won't be noticed in the final product.

I did this blanket and "cobbled together" a border which, on the end product, looks fine.

Forgot to darn in the end of the previous, that's why it was holey, I now realise.

Then I had to reach for my stitch markers to count out the different stitches and now it makes sense - but so painstaking to figure it out!

As usual with crochet, once you've figured it out, it's so obvious...HmmConfusedGrin
