Hi, I've been feeling that I don't have much to show for/feeling a bit down a bit things so I thought learning a new skill or hobby may help, although I'm not entirely sure where I am going to fit this in.

Any suggestions? Not necessarily just arts and crafts. Thank you

Crochet.

Use Bella Coco tutorials on YouTube to get you started. You'll need a hook and a ball of yarn - from a local wool shop, Hobbycraft, John Lewis etc. A 4mm hook and some DK (double knitting) yarn would do.

Once you master the basics you can buy some stylecraft yarn and contribute granny squares to the Woolly Hugs kinship project (Check out the kinship Hugs thread in the Woolly Hugs topic - it's located in Body and Soul)

The Attic24 blog has some lovely projects including some gorgeous blankets and some cute Christmas decorations.

Drawing. All you really need is a pencil and some paper, so the entry requirements are about as low as you can get. It can take up as little or as much time as you want and you can do it pretty much anywhere.

There's lots of inspiration on things like YouTube and Instagram.

I repair and make stained glass, well I used to. My hands can't take the cold anymore so I've given up recently. The satisfaction from switching on a glass lamp you have made yourself or seeing the light filter through a window you've made is amazing.

Cross stitch. It can be as simple or as complex as you want. You can buy kits/patterns or make your own, which is surprisingly easy with a pencil and some graph paper. There are some great bits of software available for making more complicated patterns.

The Cross Stitch subreddit is great if you're interested, people of all skill levels post there from those just starting out to people who have been doing it for many years.
