Sea glass

Love sea glass. Properly obsessed with the stuff and every time we're at the beach come back with another bag of gorgeous little nuggets. But what to do with it all....

I have grand ideas about mirror frames and mosaic table tops and so on but has anyone made anything lovely from seaglass that they'd care to show?

I love it too!
I've been making jewellery with mine.
Given a few away as gifts, and still practising but once my technique is perfected I am going to try to sell a few on etsy and see how they do, maybe try and do some craft fairs. The trouble I've been having is that I make them with solid stirling silver and freshwater pearls, but for selling I will legally have to hallmark pieces over a certain weight if I want to call them "silver". Which is an expensive outlay to make when I am not sure if they will even sell in the first place!
I also need a way of being absolutely 100% confident that my suppliers (online) are legit, and that what I have been buying is genuine 925 silver. Otherwise I wouldn't feel comfortable selling my pieces on.

I've been making pendants and earrings with wire wrapping so far, but have started soldiering and bezelling, and am going to make some stacking rings next.

Can't upload a photo right now, but will when I get the chance.

Also, I personally think sea glass looks best when the light is allowed to shine through it - it often seems to lose some of it's beauty when mounted on clay etc (in my opinion). Some kind of window hanging could look really pretty, or a dangly mobile thing? Every Christmas for years I've been meaning to get around to making a driftwood "christmas tree" for the porch, which I will hang chunks of sea glass, shells, etc off.

Pinterest is really good for ideas.

I adore sea glass and in the past produced a range of organic shaped sterling silver bezel set sea glass rings. Sea glass is such a rare treasure on the beaches where I live, that I wanted to honour it by using it intact. I've seen pieces where the sea glass has been drilled, but am not so fond of it as it seems that integrity of the form is somehow compromised by drilling.

I still have a jar of sea glass waiting to be used, one day I'll get back into the studio (sigh)

I also adore sea glass. Anyone know where in the south east is a good source for sea glass?

These are some earrings and a bracelet I made several years ago. I used to drill it and mix it with gemstones.

Those are gorgeous, Ink. Also agree that it looks best with the light shining through it. I have made a bowl which is beautiful but very fragile and can't be washed so not terribly practical.

Most beaches have some sea glass in my experience, you have to look down by the tide line and get your "eye in" - be warned though once you start looking for it you can't stop.
