Does anyone sell through Not on the High Street?

I've just applied. And of course after I did I read loads of posts which say 95% applicants get rejected Hmm

And also that you need a range of products/that loads aren't unique and are manufactured abroad - basically endless criticism

I make one thing. No range, just one thing, each thing unique.

Right, they turned me down. Annoyingly they don't give reasons or feedback so I don't know if it's not enough range or something.

Can I have some ideas for places to sell stuff?

So far I've got: Etsy, Folksy, Amazon Handmade from looking through threads

Be really grateful for any other ideas Smile

What are you selling? Are you on Instagram?
and have you looked at shopify .

Mrsmartell08 · 06/08/2017 10:28

I buy a lot of stuff through etsy
Cards, jewellery, household items...

BuenosNoches · 06/08/2017 10:35

I buy through Etsy too, I've been looking for something specific but not too difficult to find you would think but a lot of the items I've been looking at are mass produced abroad.

I've also searched on Facebook but no joy.

I found Not On The High Street to be quite poor quality tbh.

If you make cards I quite like Thortful.

My SIL is an artist who does individual commissions. She has set up a Shopify as her main website, she is on Instagram and on Facebook.
I think she had found the interest from Facebook to be more than she was expecting.

I think offering a competition on Facebook (with a need to share to enter) gets good publicity. I've learnt about numerous small businesses this way

After being in the doldrums all week about this I've decided I'm going to design a proper online shop.

Thank you all so much for your help Smile

Is etsy workable. Do people buy from it. I was thinking about putting up my cards for sale. But unsure how to do it and make folk aware I'm there.

I also sell craft supplies How does etsy do for you?

I sell through galleries and small craft shops. Best way with these is to go to them as a customer and look around each one to assess whether it is a suitable place to show off your work.
Then approach them either first by phone and ask if they might be interested in seeing your work -which you can then email images of, or take in actual pieces, or just email them directly and take it from there.

This way you are supporting local businesses and they are supporting you.

I also sell on Facebook and am now looking at Instagram too. Just don't overload yourself and commit to more than is feasible in a given time period....... as that way lies madness as I know all too well
