Anyone know about "Clothkits"?

My mum was telling me about Clothkits. She used to get them mail order when we were children. They were basically sewing kits which had everything you needed to make items of clothing - the pattern to cut out was actually on the material.

I am interested to find out if they still exist. I have been trying, and failing, to find the perfect dungarees for ds2 who is in cloth nappies, and thought it may be easier to make my own.

oshkosh are a boots brand now i think

it's prcie points that are the problem unless you can get a really strong brand/lifestyle image up really quickly they would just be too expensive

though now the market for cloth nappiues has been opened up it might be possible to tap into it

but quite an over popular area baby and toddler brands

I can't see all the nappy brands surviving

Those OshKosh ones look great.

tissy - Thanks that would be lovely. ds2 is 8 months (tomorrow!) but weighs about 24 pounds, so probably 9-12 months, or even 12-18 months.

off to read that article

Dungarees are called overalls in the US (they call jeans dungarees ) - if none of Tissy's will do for DS2, Wallace, it might be worth putting a call out for US MNers who could buy them over there for you and post them to the UK (you can buy them much cheaper there, we lived on Long Island when DD1 was a baby and had a clearance shop where we could buy last season's for about $10!)

Good idea Jan. I have relatives in the US. I'll get them to go shopping for me

Wallace, I have some Baby Gap dungarees, 18-24 months, an OshKosh denim boiler suit 18 months (quite thick, but might do for cooler days), and some blue check summer dungarees, 12 months. You're welcome to them for postage. Either CAT me, or put your email address here and I'll get them off to you!

Gosh thanks, tissy, you're very kind. Those sound perfect Are you sure you only want postage for them?

My email is sjmackintosh at hotmail dot com. Will I paypal you, or send a cheque?

xxxxxxx

I know the original question has been well and truely answered now, but I couldn't resist coming on to say 'ooh, clothkits, lovely!' I lived in Clothkits stuff as a kid, and absolutely loved it. I'd buy it for DS in a flash if it still existed (but then I do have a sewing machine). And Sasha dolls, I'd forgotten about them until reading funnypeculiar's post. Sigh....
