Knitting problem help - wrong number of stitches on the needle

I'm knitting one of the jumpers from the modular system thing in the Vogue Ultimate Knitting book but have a problem...

I've just finished the first bit (the back piece). It says:

CO 94 sts
Knit, ribbing, blah blah blah
Decreasing repeating pattern
BO rem 36 sts

Except I have 43 sts left?!?

And I haven't got any yarn overs in my work or anything like that, so I've no idea where the 9 sts have come from Confused

What should I do? I'm not knitting it all again (took ages) so I guess I will just cast off what I have. But do I need to change anything in the other bits? Or should I just ignore it?

Thanks!

Are you decreasing for a set number of rows or by length? If by length, it might be that your tension is wing, so you haven't knitted enough rows after, say, 18cm to have decreased enough.

Tension is wrong. Like autocorrect!

Decreasing by number of rows

(9 repeats x 6 row pattern + 6 rows = 60 rows)

Can you do another repeat?

Thanks for your help but I've sorted the problem now :)
